Social Networks Now More Popular than Search Engines in the UK

Social networks now receive more UK Internet visits than search engines. During May, social networks accounted for 11.88% of UK Internet visits and search engines accounted for 11.33%. May was the first ever month that social networks have been more popular than search engines in the UK.

Google Launches Improved Search

Google Partners with Bazaarvoice for Consumer Ratings in Product Search and Ads

Google To Buy Travel Software Maker?

Google are currently in discussions to aquire Travel Software maker ITA. It is thought the online giant could use ITA Software’s tools to compete with travel-search features offered by rivals Microsoft. ITA Software could request around $1 billion for their aquisition by Google, who have already announced 6 takeovers this year.

Google Enables Tweet Time Machine

Google have just activated a new improvement to their real-time search function. Starting from today, users will not only be able to search all the real-time content out there (from Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Buzz) but will be able to sort the tweets by the time at which they were posted. This handy new feature will allow users to see what people were talking about at a specific moment in time as far back as the first tweet on March 21st 2006.

Hotel Prices on Google Maps!

Many hotel consumers use google maps as a tool to find places to stay. By zooming in to a specific location and searching for the word ‘hotel’, google maps will display all the listed hotels in that area. Now google is developing a pricing system whereby the user can input a date and number of nights and be supplied with a price for each hotel on the map. The project has reached the testing stage and is likely to be rolled out in the near future.

Your Hotel’s Facebook Page to Appear in Google Searches

Google have announced that Facebook Pages will be added to their real-time search function.
This addition is the latest in a line now also including social media rivals Myspace and Twitter.
Yet to be added are personal Facebook profile updates which are currently only searchable via Bing.
