Think Twice Before Dropping your Rates

A new study from Cornell suggests that dropping your rates may not be the best strategy for your hotel.
At the IHF conference in Galway recently, Cathy A. Enz of the Cornell’s Centre for Hospitality Research presented the findings of a four year study on pricing, demand, and revenue dynamics for European hotels for the period 2006 through 2009. Her presentation included stats for Ireland, in particular the Dublin market. Needless to say, there was a vibrant debate discussion from attendee’s afterwards.

Market research firm Chadwick Martin Bailey recently published a new report that would suggest engaging with your guests via social media will improve your hotel’s business. The stats indicate that over 50% of all people connected with your hotel via social media are more likely to stay at your hotel and over 60% are more likely to recommend your hotel to others.
