Overseas Trips by Irish Residents increased by 11% to 547,600 in February 2008 compared to the 494,600 recorded in February 2007, according to Central Statistics Office.

The number of overseas visits to the Ireland increased by just 2% to 547,600 during this period, compared with 460,600 in Feburary 2007.

The growth stemmed from increases in visitor numbers from Northern America (up by 15%) and other parts of the world (up by 38%) but arrivals from other European countries dropped by 4%.

Trips to Ireland by residents of Great Britain increased by just over 2% to 259,800. Still, residents of Great Britain accounted for 55% of all Overseas Trips to Ireland, followed by residents of USA at 9% and residents of Germany at 5%.
